Flagship Crisis Programme

Nourish Hub

Crisis Stabilisation. Food Security. Dignity. A Pathway Forward.

Heal Empower Restore Thrive

Restoring Dignity. Reducing Hardship. Strengthening Pathways to Stability.

Nourish Hub is the flagship crisis stabilisation and food security programme of Women for More International. Created to support women, single mothers and families experiencing financial hardship and vulnerability, Nourish Hub provides practical food and essential support at a critical point in the journey from crisis towards stability.

For women transitioning out of domestic abuse, financial hardship can continue long after physical safety has been secured. Food insecurity, economic abuse, debt, unemployment, housing pressures and caring responsibilities can make rebuilding significantly harder.

Nourish Hub exists to help address that immediate gap. We believe that before a woman can focus fully on rebuilding her future, she may first need the stability to meet the needs of today.

Core Challenge

Why Nourish Hub Exists

When leaving crisis does not mean the crisis is over.

Leaving an abusive environment is a significant step towards safety, but it does not automatically create financial or household stability. For many women, the period after leaving can involve a complex combination of:

  • Food insecurity
  • Financial instability
  • Economic abuse
  • Debt and financial shock
  • Unemployment or underemployment
  • Housing insecurity
  • Caring responsibilities
  • Isolation
  • Reduced confidence
  • Difficulty navigating fragmented support systems

Economic abuse can have particularly long-lasting consequences, restricting a survivor’s access to money, employment, bank accounts, credit and other resources necessary for independence. This means that a woman can be physically safer while remaining economically vulnerable.

Nourish Hub responds to this reality by providing practical support at the point where immediate hardship can prevent longer-term recovery.

Our Philosophy

More Than Food

Food is the intervention. Stability is the objective.

Nourish Hub is not simply about distributing food. Food is often the immediate need that opens the door to wider support.

When a household is struggling to meet basic nutritional needs, it can become harder to focus on employment, education, financial planning, children’s wellbeing, appointments or longer-term recovery. By helping to reduce immediate food insecurity and essential household pressures, Nourish Hub aims to create greater space for women and families to begin rebuilding.

“Stability creates space for recovery. Recovery creates space for confidence. Confidence creates space for opportunity. Opportunity creates space for thriving.”

— Nourish Hub Recovery Philosophy

Nourish Hub represents the first stage of that pathway.

Framework

Our Crisis Stabilisation Model

Practical support delivered with dignity. Nourish Hub provides targeted practical support according to available resources, programme capacity and assessed need across 5 key areas:

01. Food Support

Redistributing surplus food and providing food parcels to help address immediate food insecurity.

02. Essential Support

Providing essential household and personal items where available, helping families navigate acute hardship with dignity.

03. Referral & Signposting

Connecting individuals to appropriate statutory, specialist and community services where additional support is required.

04. Safeguarding-Aware Practice

Recognising that food and financial hardship can exist alongside domestic abuse, exploitation, housing insecurity and safeguarding concerns.

05. Connection to Further Support

Where appropriate, Nourish Hub provides a pathway into wider Women for More International initiatives, including confidence-building, personal development and economic empowerment opportunities.

What the Numbers Represent

Behind every kilogram is an opportunity to support someone experiencing hardship.

Behind every tray is a household that may have one less immediate pressure to carry.

Behind every food collection is a partnership capable of turning surplus into social value.

Nourish Hub is helping to build a community response in which food that might otherwise go to waste can instead contribute to the wellbeing and dignity of women, families and individuals experiencing financial hardship. Our ambition is to move beyond measuring only what we distribute — we want to understand what changes because we distribute it.

Evaluation

Measuring What Matters

From activity data to meaningful outcomes. Women for More International is developing an impact measurement framework tracking both programme activity and participant outcomes, monitoring:

  • Kilograms of food collected and redistributed
  • Collection and distribution activity
  • Households supported
  • Individuals reached
  • Children within supported households
  • New and repeat referrals
  • Essential items distributed
  • Food insecurity indicators
  • Onward referrals
  • Engagement with wider support
  • Participant feedback
  • Dignity and usefulness of support
  • Progression into wider Women for More International programmes
